Did I already tell you we’re in Fort Lauderdale? We arrived on Friday, November 16th, and it’s been sort of go-go-go ever since.
We decided to get a slip in the Las Olas Marina ($1.45/ft) because we have a lot of boat jobs to do before we leave for the Bahamas.
This is a picture of us and our dock neighbour, which, if you can believe it does not rank high on the Fort Lauderdale Yacht Enormity Scale. Just outside the marina fence, a crew was shooting a hip-hop video with the real mega-yachts in the background – I’ll show you some pictures later (of the yachts, not the hip-hop video filming – didn’t have the camera handy).
We rented a car today – there’s no way we’re going to be able to pick up everything (boat equipment, provisions, etc. etc) using just the bike. Speaking of the bike, we’re taking it to the shop…we doubled over a bump – a crater, actually – and the rear wheel took the worst of it and now has a wobble. I think our combined weight (mine is probably to blame being completely on the rear wheel) adds up to a little more than the Dahon was designed to handle (*blush*).
We’ll get back to the blog once we get a few more jobs crossed off the list…
Hey Guys: Looking forward to more blogs and pics of the tiny yachts.
Hi Maryl – Something made me think of you today….had to go back and find your blog address (in a kids’ coloring book – I think Pat jotted it down for me at Eileen’s baptism in August). Sounds like an amazing time. Good to hear all is going so well. Take care…
